AEPC LAUNCHED ITS PORTAL "www.aepcindia.com"

Sh. S. B. Mohapatra, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles inaugurated and launched the AEPC Portal 'www.aepcindia.com' at a glittering function amidst presence of Executive Committee members of the Council, leading exporters from all parts of India, AEPC Officers and representatives from press and electronic media.

Welcoming Secretary (Textiles), Sh. Rakesh Vaid, Chairman (Export Promotion), AEPC said that the most important issues which was decided to act upon on immediate basis was to update the industry members so that they can become competitive in the post MFA era beyond 2004. He also stressed that with the changing world scenario, the information technology has become an essential tool for the entire business community and using this effective tool, AEPC decided to launch a portal. Sh. K.K. Jalan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles were also present during the inaugural ceremony. While addressing the august gathering, Shri Virender Upppal, Chairman, AEPC said that after taking over as Chairman, AEPC, he is working on export promotion on priority basis. He highlighted the salient features of the Portal, which are as follows: -

¨ The portal would be dynamic and would be an interactive forum for various partners in garment exports.

¨ The portal would act as on-line Resource Centre

¨ The Portal would provide a discussion forum to AEPC members through which various issues would be flashed to the members and their opinion would be sought in Policy formulation. One can imagine over 10,000 exporters debating on modification or improvement of EXIM Policy, matter related to Ministry of Finance and top of it, various export promotion activities, their methodologies and various issues concerning quota policy management.

¨ The Portal will also pave a way for creating a strong database, which can be used by the Government for dealing the cases of anti-dumping to safeguard the interest of the country.

¨ Once fully operational, the Portal would also provide economies in communication and facility like online transactions related to membership and subscription etc.

¨ All the important features like industry statistics, latest news, Press Releases, Important Circulars of various Ministries etc. would be made available for use by exporters.

¨ One of the best features of the Portal would be that based on the suggestions of participating members, the Portal would be modified to suit and make them information friendly and user friendly. AEPC would take the help of major search engines to mobilise active buyers participation in various programmes in India and to showcase the potential available with us.
