How do I get my site updated?

Each hosted website comes with a set schedule of periodic updates. GeoRapid sets a time to update your website, usually about three hours of HTML work. During those updates we can post a newsletter, a list of events for the next season, or add new information while removing outdated information. An immediate update is possible as well -- after we receive your materials, we will send you an estimate of the cost; upon your approval we will perform the update.

How do I know how many people are looking at my website?

Before posting your completed site on the Web, we include a little tag that counts all the "hits". In other words, it records every visitor that views your home page. You will be able to review the details anytime. GeoRapid will provide a password in order to access the statistics about your website following completion of the project.

Will my website be listed when someone runs a search for my type of business in Yahoo, Excite, or other search engines?

Your website will be listed. However we cannot guarantee which it will appear using each search engine. It all depends on many factors that we cannot control. There are companies that tell you they can put you on top of the search engine list but they are falsely advertising because we have found that their promises are cannot always be fulfilled. However, you may verify with the search engine advertising department (for example: Altavista) for a fee if they will be able to register you at the top of the search engine listing.

Do I have to have a dedicated computer for running my website on the Internet?

No. We use our own server to host your website. Our server is monitored 24 hours a day, the data is backed up constantly, and it is connected to the backbone of the Internet via multiple optical OC3 lines and redundant T3 lines. Thus giving you the speed, the reliability and the peace of mind required by all of our clients.

Why do some websites take so long to load?

Every piece of information has to travel a long distance from the server to your machine. Moreover, it is never a "direct" connection -- the piece of information travels through a number of dedicated hosts. At the same time there are billions of other pieces of data traveling in different directions. Consequently, the speed of the flow depends on the capacity of every host. Generally speaking, if the "highway" is too narrow to handle the "traffic", you get an effect similar to a traffic jam.

Why do some websites look bad in AOL?

The AOL browser, by default, is set to display images in a low number of colors which is done to preserve free space on your hard drive thus increasing browsing speed. As a consequence, the real outcome is that most websites appear to be visually unappealing. Consult your manual or call America Online technical support to inquire about ways to improve the quality of web images on your particular version of AOL.

Why is my text aligned differently than our printed material?

Each browser has its set of standards. These standards change from version to version, from platform to platform, and from release to release. There are certain codes that are the same on every Web Browser, but, not enough to guarantee that your page will look exactly the same on every one of them. If you have a document that you need to present in its exact format, then it is possible to post it in PDF format which is similar to taking a snapshot of the brochure and placing it on the web.

Can I email images to GeoRapid?

In most cases you can email images to GeoRapid. You just need to watch out for the file size. If the original file is extremely large, then our system simply will not accept it. In fact, your own ISP might not like it. There have been cases where ISPs have disconnected accounts that continually send out huge email messages. We recommend emailing images only if they are less than 100 kilobytes in size.
